I’ve used this quote in all my innovation and UX training sessions.
Still, many people think good User Experience (UX) is about beauty. It isn’t:

“Don’t make something unless it is both necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don’t hesitate to make it beautiful.” —The Shaker Design Philosophy, originally found at Joshua Porter's blog

This short quote perfectly describes the entire innovation process:

Is your product necessary?
It only is if you’ve found a common pain for a large group of people.
Is your product useful?
It only is if your solution easily allows them to reach their goals.
Is your product appealing?
Only make it beautiful after validating both the pain and the solution.

Regards, Adam
