Innovation Hack 14 - Creativity is the solution to all problems
No matter how small or big your problem is, it will ultimately require creativity to be solved.
WHY is it important?
Creativity is often seen as something that isn’t compatible with the real business world. But it is. I think people usually define creativity in the wrong way.
The best definition of creativity is simply:
“Creativity is the ability to generate new ideas”. That’s it.
Now add the following quote by Linus Pauling - one of only four people to have won more than one Nobel Prize - “The best way to get a good idea is to have a lot of ideas” and you’ll immediately understand why creativity is important.
WHEN can it be used?
Never start with just one idea whenever someone asks you to solve a problem. Remember: “The best way to get a good idea is to have a lot of ideas”.
Practice your creativity by asking yourself one question every day:
“What are my favorite 10 people”,
“What are my 10 favorite cities in the world”,
“What can be done with a brick”. etc
Answering these questions with at least 10 answers will teach you to always start with many bad ideas instead of trying to create the perfect idea - which simply doesn’t work.
