I've been facilitating countless workshops for corporate clients all over the world for many years. However, the workshops that have been most meaningful to me are ones where I've seen a real human impact.
One such workshop that stands out was a COVID strategy session I facilitated for the government health department of an African country during the peak of the pandemic. Having the opportunity to interview local doctors and incorporate their invaluable insights into a strategic plan to better protect communities was truly humbling. It was remarkable to see how our collective effort could potentially shape the trajectory of the country's pandemic response.
In a less global but equally important nonprofit context, I've been involved with local sports clubs. I had the pleasure of assisting our local triathlon club in identifying strategies to boost enrollment and better engage families after they had seen declining participation. It was so rewarding to observe their growth after the workshop.
Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with the management team of our local Bundesliga football club, where we focused on enhancing their engagement with sponsors. It was great to see how our workshop translated into a much deeper relationship between the club and the sponsors.
So, why am I sharing this? Well, I believe it's essential to remember the "why" behind what we do. For me, it's about more than just facilitating workshops – it's about making a difference and contributing in my own way. Last month, I left the corporate world of innovation to focus on exactly this, I want to give back my skills and knowledge to such projects in the world.
When skills can be directly applied to benefit others, it makes the work so much more rewarding.
I'd love to hear from you - what part of your work have you found most meaningful or impactful? Are there any examples that have created change, however small, in the lives of others? What has been your most meaningful experience, and how has it impacted you?
I believe if we share knowledge and learn from each other, we can amplify our positive impact. Our work has the power to not just grow organizations, but to grow communities.
I look forward to learning from your experiences!
